Here at Yours Clothing body positivity and self-love is very close to our hearts, so we wanted to shine a light on a handful of our favourite influencers who have become role models to so many worldwide. These aspirational women have used their platforms to inspire us all to feel good about the skin we’re in and encourage us to overlook the stigma surrounding ‘the perfect body’ (Because there isn’t one by the way!)

We’ve learnt that body positivity isn’t confined to the plus-size community. Body positivity can affect us all whether it is in the form of anorexia, eating disorders and depression, to name but a few.

These truly admirable women have taken us on each step of their journey and we’ve laughed and cried with them along the way. If you lack any form of body positivity, pick up any of these books and you’ll soon see you’re not alone, and together, we can be as one.

36199912Tess holiday – The Not So Subtle Art of Being A Fat Girl

Tess has used her platform in an outstanding way. She has used the power of words to motivate everyone around the world and take us on a journey with her. This book makes you realise that no matter what you have gone through in your life or where you have come from, you can succeed as long as you don’t give up on your dreams. Tess turned her goals into reality and challenged herself in many different ways. She has inspired us and many others with this book, Tess found comfort in her own skin and has shown us all how we can do the same.

Jes Baker – Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls

This book is great for someone who is on the path to body positivity and after a little guidance. This book is inspiring and warms your heart. It’s almost written in a way where it feels like you’re having a conversation with one of your closest friends. It’s not often you find a plus size body positive activist who is as inclusive as Jes. She has included people from all different demographics, of all ethnicity and genders and brought everyone together as one. Each and every person struggles at some point in their life regardless of their background and this book demonstrates just that.

Ashley Graham – A New Model

Ashley Graham lets us have a glimpse into her life in this moving book. She tells us about how to make it in a modelling industry which takes no prisoners, and how to overcome body shape issues and become comfortable in your own skin. This book inspired us to feel good about ourselves and have a positive view on life. We love how Ashley isn’t afraid to say what’s really on her mind and will be honest about the issues in front of her. We thought this was an absolutely marvelous read and she manages to make you smile and cry all at the same time.

Megan Jayne Crabbe – Body Positive Power

This book is an emotional and inspiring read. Megan approaches her history, societal beliefs and self-love in an incredibly hilarious way. We found ourselves relating to Megan’s story in so many ways which we never thought we would! It’s not about being big or small it’s about loving your body and yourself. This book is an absolute bible of body positivity and we never wanted it to end!
